Housing advice and support

If you have any questions about your housing situation call us on 01923 226400 during office hours.

You can also meet a Housing Advisor face-to-face. They are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am until 12.30pm, and Wednesdays from 1pm until 4.30pm.

If you come to the Town Hall when the advisor is not on duty, you will be offered the option of telephoning for advice at the following times: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - 1pm until 4.30pm, and Friday - 1pm until 4.15pm.

Is your landlord threatening to evict you?

The government provides helpful advice on private renting. You can find out what your rights are as a tenant and what to do if you are being threatened with eviction, as well as lots of other information.

Are you having trouble paying your mortgage?

Again, there is lots of advice available, including information on what you can do to avoid repossession, and details of the government’s Mortgage Rescue Scheme.

Are you being evicted by parents, other family or friends?

If you are 16-17 we will advise you who you should see for an assessment of your needs.

Are you a victim of domestic abuse?

The Herts Sunflower Group runs a helpline for men and women who are victims of domestic abuse. This is a confidential and free service, open Monday to Friday, 10am to 10pm. The helpline is: 0808 808 8088. In an emergency always dial 999.
