Waste is a valuable resource that can be used to generate power - it is a growing technology particular in dealing with food waste. Small scale versions of this technology make is possible for residents and businesses to directly use the energy derived from their waste.
Small scale CHP systems that use waste as a fuel bring many benefits including cheaper supplies of heat and power, reduced requirements for waste storage and collection and reduction in carbon emissions.
CHP is not yet common in the UK but is a popular method used in Japan and across Europe where there are examples of how the system can be integrated into new developments
