What we are looking for:

Are you an experienced Benefits Manager, with a proven track record of leadership and delivering an effective, customer focused service? We are looking for someone to lead and manage our Benefits service, and ensure that our high standards are maintained. 

You will play a role in defining and leading the future strategy and development of the benefits service, as well as managing the day to day operations delivered. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of organisational skills, and ability to manage a variety of incoming work. 

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate: 

  • Significant experience of working within a local government environment.
  • Strong aptitude for people management, raising employee engagement and developing resilience across teams.

What we are looking for:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Protection Officer to come on board, as soon as possible, to advise on all aspects of data protection and ensure full compliance for upcoming GDPR.  Duties include:

  • Assisting the Council on all data privacy matters and in meeting GDPR obligations
  • Raising awareness and undertaking staff training on all aspects of the GDPR and the Data Protection Act
  • Undertake data auditing
  • Analysing and checking compliance with data processing activities and informing/issuing recommendations, as necessary, to the Council.

The successful applicant to have an in depth understanding of the GDRP and processing operations carried out by the Council.  Therefore, knowledge of local government is required.

You will also provide awareness training to a wide audience using different methods for different audiences.  We are looking for a data protection professional that can devise and deliver a challenging programme.  This role will advise on all areas of data privacy and undertake Data Impact Analyses.

What we are looking for:

We are looking to strengthen our housing team ready for the implementation of the Homeless Reduction Act. This role will suit an individual looking to commence or further their career in housing.

This post will be based in our housing triage team who provide the first point of contact for customers. You will be dealing with applications from clients to join Watford’s housing register and initial applications for housing advice. You will be responsible for keeping our housing systems up to date and will work closely with colleagues in other sections of the housing team to deliver a good results orientated service to our clients.

You will work within a small but dynamic housing team which is made up of a triage team who deal with initial enquiries, a team of housing caseworkers who deal with the more involved elements of housing cases and a property team who work to secure housing in both the public and private sector.  

You will be a confident communicator and have good IT skills as a majority of the role will be spent working with our computerised housing system and MS office products.

It is essential that you are conscientious with attention to detail and able to work both on your own and as part of a team.

What we are looking for:

We are looking to strengthen our housing team ready for the implementation of the Homeless Reduction Act. This role will suit an experienced housing officer with a detailed knowledge of housing legislations including the new Homeless Reduction Act 2017.

You will be working with clients to try and help with their housing issues including developing and agreeing personal housing plans and working with them to ensure delivery of these plans.

You will need to have the capability to make the relevant legal decisions relating to homelessness as well as working with clients in a proactive manner to try and improve their housing situations.

You will work within a small but dynamic housing team which is made up of a triage team who deal with initial enquiries, a team of housing caseworkers who deal with the more involved elements of housing cases and a property team who work to secure housing in both the public and private sectors.  

As well as solid housing experience and a sound knowledge of the relevant housing legislation we are looking for the ability to negotiate with and coach customers to improve their situation.

You should be able to understand the underlying reasons behind an individual’s housing problems and be able to guide them in the best way to address their issues and be able to come up with practical and innovative solutions.

What we are looking for:

You will pro-actively lead on a number key project within a vibrant urban Authority seeking to deliver economic and housing growth through innovative and good quality development. This work will be undertaken alongside a small, friendly and supportive team.

There is an exceptional variety of work and opportunity to contribute to the development of the town. This includes using a digital model of the town to inform the delivery of high quality tall buildings in the right places, and the delivery of homes and jobs within the boroughs regeneration areas.

In the past two years the Council has successfully negotiated high quality schemes to deliver over 1,000 homes, 50,000m² of commercial space, a new school and station improvements, including a number of mixed use developments incorporating tall buildings.

These have only been a small part of the identified regeneration projects and the role will provide the ability to work on a range of interesting projects alongside a small and supportive team. Applicants should be eligible for membership of the RTPI with suitable planning experience. They must have strong design skills, be excellent communicators with the ability to write clear and concise reports. Above all, they must be able to demonstrate a drive to be pro-active in how they approach the role and that they will make a positive difference to the area.
