How does the Corporate Peer Challenge work?
The Local Government Association (LGA) worked with the council to organise the corporate peer challenge. The LGA put together an assessment team comprising a council leader from another local authority, a current or retired Chief Executive from another local authority and council officers with experience in areas that Watford has identified as important.
This team was on site for three days to hold interviews, focus groups, and meetings with Watford Borough Council councillors and staff and some of our key partners. They also went on a short tour of the borough and met some of our local residents.
The team used what they found from their visit and the information we provided them through our self-assessment or Position Statement and a range of documentation to develop a report on the council that included recommendations for improvement.
