Parking restrictions

All motorists are responsible for ensuring that they understand the lines and signs on the public highway. If you do not understand the signs and you park illegally, you risk receiving a Penalty Charge Notice. The list below outlines the different lines and signs present throughout Watford:

If the single yellow line is located in a Controlled Parking Zone, the single yellow line will be restricted during the same hours of the zone. Yellow lines restrict parking from the centre of the road to the back of the public highway and include footways and verges

Double yellow line - parking is prohibited at all times. Yellow lines restrict parking from the centre of the road to the back of the public highway and include footways and verges

Single yellow kerb blip - loading and unloading is restricted during the hours shown on the white sign nearby

Permit bay - only vehicles clearly displaying a valid permit or correctly validated visitor voucher may park during the restricted hours of the Controlled Parking Zone. These will be shown on the zone entry signs, situated at all entrances to the zone

Limited wait bays - vehicles may park free of charge in these bays providing that they do not park for longer than the maximum time listed on the nearby signage

Taxi rank - only Watford Borough Council licensed taxis may park in these bays. Vehicles should not be left unattended at any times

Bus stops - only designated bus services may park in these bus stop clearways. Vehicles should only be left unattended with agreement from the Council

School 'Keep Clear' zig-zags - these are commonly situated outside the entrances of schools. No vehicles may park here during school term times during the hours listed on the nearby signage
