  • On a break over the Summer will be back in Autumn

Cassiobury Explorers - preschool group

  • Thursday's during term time (not running over May half term)
  • Times: 1pm-2:30pm
  • Description: Outdoor fun and exploration. For ages two to five but younger siblings welcome. Meet outside the Hub at 12:50am and follow staff to event site.
  • Booking: No booking required, just turn up! 

Home school - Forest School

  • 23rd May, 13th June, 27th June, 11th July, 25th July
  • Times: 10am-12noon.
  • Description: Outdoor exploration and forest school inspired activities. For over 5 years but younger siblings welcome. Meet outside the Hub at 9:55am and follow staff to event site. Cost £2 per child

Home school - Gardening Club

  • 6th June, 4th July
  • Times: 10-11:30am
  • Description: Outdoor fun and gardening sessions at the Peace Garden in the Park. For over 5 years but younger siblings welcome. Meet outside the Hub at 9:55am and follow staff to event site. Cost £2 per child

Bird Watching Walk

  • Sunday 26th May
  • Times: 10am-12pm
  • Description: A guided Bird watching walk to see birds at Cassiobury Park's nature reserve. Booking is essential for this walk. Meet at 10am outside the Hub on the upper patio, bring binoculars if you have any and sorry no dogs allowed. Wear shoes suitable for muddy conditions. Cost: FREE.

Half term: Crafty History - Victorian Toy (optical illusion spinning disc)

  • Tuesday 28th May
  • Times: 10:30am- 11:30am 
  • Descriptions: Create Victorian toy thaumatrope (spinning disc) that would have been played by children at Cassiobury House. This toy shows an optical illusion when rapidly rotated. Children must be accompanied by an adult,  suitable for 5-12 years. Meet at the Hub's education space at 10:30am. Cost: £2 per child
  • Booking: No booking required, just turn up.

Half term: Wild walk - damselflies and dragonflies

  • Wednesday 29th May
  • Times: 10:30-11:30am
  • Description: Join our wild walk for families to spot signs of spring in the park. Meet outside the Hub on the patio at 1pm. Costs:£2 per child
  • Booking: No booking required, first come first served basis

Half term: Storytime Adventure

  • Thursday 30th May
  • Times: 10:30am -11:30am
  • Description: Come and listen to a story and then take part in fun activities in the park. Children must be accompanied by an adult,  suitable for 2-5 years. Meet at the Hub's education space at 10:30am. Cost: £2 per child
  • Booking: No booking required, first come first served basis

Adult craft workshop - Felting

  • Saturday 8th June
  • Times: 11am-12:30pm
  • Description: A fun intoduction to felting including felt making demo by our expert and create your oen felt craft item to take home. With a short break in the middle with tea/ coffee provided. Booked session, £5 per person.
  • Booking: Booking required. Further deatils willl be given out soon.

Photowalk at Cassiobury Park

  • Wednesday 12th June
  • Times: 11am-1:30pm
  • Description: Take a guided walk through Cassiobury Park to explore summer with Vicky (Hub) and local photographer Andrew Lalchan. This walk offers opportunities for taking photos and Andrew will be on hand to offer advice. Bring your mobile  phone, DSLR camera, zoom/ macro lens. Recommend good footwear for muddy conditions. Meet outside the Hub on the patio at 11am. Walk costs £5.

Heritage walks

  • 7th July, 15th Sept and 20th Oct 
  • Times: 11am-1pm
  • Description: A guided walk with a member of the SW Herts Archaeological & Historical Society, from the Cassiobury Park Hub up into Whippendell Woods. Find out about the history of the amazing Public Park of today, from prehistory to the Estate of the Earls of Essex. Booking is essential for this walk. Meet at 11am outside the Hub on the upper patio and walk us suitable for adults and families with older children. Cost £2 per person.

Butterfly Walk for summer butterflies

  • Sunday 7th July 
  • Times: 2-4pm
  • Description: A led walk with experts to spot butterflies in the Park. Weather permitting walk extended to 6pm to spot later afternoon butterflies. Meet  at 2pm opposite Langley Way entrance (WD17) and then walk to sites. Cost: FREE.
  • Booking: No booking required, first come first served basis

Heritage talk at the Hub: Landscape Legacy - Moses Cook

  • Saturday 20th July 
  • Times: 2-3pm
  • Description: A talk focusing on the inspirational gardner to the lost Earls of Essex. Much of his inspirational planting designs for the Earls Essex Estate and still be enjoyed at Cassiobury Park today! Talk 45mins and light refreshments afterwards. Booking required and £3 per person paid cash on the day.

Yoga in the Park

  • Every Saturday (Summertime: sessions will be held at the Bandstand)
  • Times: 10am-11am
  • Description: Traditional hatha yoga with a focus on bringing balance to the body and mind through breathing, creating strength, energy and flexibility. Suitable for beginners, however those with a regular practice are more than welcome. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one but there will be some available to borrow if you don't (or forget yours!).
  • Booking: £3 each. Booking is required at our Watford Get Active website.

Regular activities in Cassiobury Park

  • Health walks Wednesdays - starting at 10:30am (fast) or 11am (easy). If you want to be sure of exploring the best of Cassiobury Park why not try this walking route?
  • British Military Fitness - classes most days, take a look at the BMF web page for details.
  • Conservation Volunteers Green Gym, Wednesdays, 10am – 1pm.
  • Park Run - Saturdays at 9am. If you have any questions not answered by the Park Run website, email Andy Nice at adknice@googlemail.com or call Caroline Roche on 01923 278242.
  • Group bike rides take place about once a month - see the Sky ride website for details.
  • RSPB Bird watching group - 1st Wednesday of the month, meet at the Gade Avenue car park at 10am contact RSPB Watford Group for more details
  • Music on the Cassiobury Park Bandstand  - every Sunday 2pm - 4pm (May to September) plus other occasional events see our what's on section for more details.
