Applying to the council's Housing Register

Bidding for available housing association homes

If you have been accepted onto the Housing Register, you will be able to bid for available housing association homes advertised on the Herts Choice Homes website. If you find a home you like you can bid for it. There is no money involved in placing a bid. Bidding for a home that has been advertised is actually a way of telling the council that you are interested in being considered for that home.

You can bid for available homes:

  • online
  • by telephone on 0870 998 2290 - advice on making your bid by telephone is here
  • by text message on 07781 472 726 - advice on making your bid by text message is here
  • in person by coming in to the Customer Services Centre, in the Town Hall.  If needed, Customer Services or Housing staff will help you place your bid online.

To bid online you will need to login with your Herts Choice Homes number and date of birth. If you don't have your Herts Choice Home number, let us know and we will write to you with the information you need.

Homes are allocated to the bidder on the Housing Register with the highest housing need.
