A sensational, awe-inspiring and unforgettable staging of General Lew Wallace’s timeless classic Ben Hur including sea battles, chariot racing and leprosy!
WORLD AMATEUR PREMIERE!
An epic comedy… The greatest Roman epic comedy spoof since The Life of Brian! A sensational, awe-inspiring and unforgettable staging of General Lew Wallace’s timeless classic Ben Hur including sea battles, chariot racing and leprosy! Watch in awe as only a handful of actors take on the might of Rome in a comedy of quick changes, over the top acting, sand dances, camels, the birth of Christ and real life sized Roman orgy (suitable for all ages). You’ll gasp at the sight of Rome. You’ll stare in disbelief at the monumental sea battles (with water). You’ll cheer and be slightly nervous at the real life chariot racing! …and you’ll wonder at the scale of acting. An hilarious comedy on an epic scale! By Patrick Barlow Based on the novel by General ‘Lew’ Wallace.

Home to the best in Acoustic, Blues, Roots and both modern and traditional folk music.
The Watford Folk Club is the friendliest Folk Club in Watford. There has been a Folk Club at The Pump House since 1973. The present Club has been open since 2008 and is run by a committee and willing volunteers, all of whom are passionate about Folk music. The Watford folk Club is 10 years old in October 2018!
The Watford Folk Club has an enviable reputation for the quality and the quantity of its floor singers/players and for headlining new and established Folk performers.
We run "Guest Nights", "Singarounds" and "Spotlight Singarounds". On a Guest Night, a professional or semi-professional Folk/Acoustic performer will play two 40 minute sets and a number of Floor Spots are available too. At a Singaround, the chairs are arranged in a big circle and anyone can sing a song or two or play a piece or two. People also come to the club just to listed to the high-quality music. There is never any obligation to perform! Spotlight Singarounds feature two 20 minute sets at a Singaround from local supporters of the Club.
Admission on the door. There is a real ale bar, great acoustics and a friendly welcome every week.
The 2016 Watford Folk Club Folk Song Contest with the theme of "Crime and Punishment", showed yet again how much talent there is in & around Watford. Our three Celebrity Judges, Vicki Swan, Paul MacNamara and Polly Morris all commented on how tough it was to choose the worthy winner. Well done to organisers Alison Raymond & Kim Olyett for yet another great night.
Look out for details of this year's competition and for gig dates for our judges.
