Street parking - enforcement and fines

As well as normal daytime patrols, enforcement also takes place at night and on Sundays (where restrictions apply).

enforcement and fines

There is also a Match Day Parking Scheme (see page on 'Match day parking') that comes into effect on first team match days of Watford Football Club or the Saracens Rugby Club during which enforcement patrols take place.

As a regional shopping centre, Watford’s traffic and parking problems are obviously affected and the council is duty bound to deal with congestion on the town centre road system, the main approach roads and on bus routes. The council, therefore, also has a policy enforcing parking restrictions and controls on bank holidays which are among the busiest days for shopping.

Bank Holidays

All parking restrictions are subject to enforcement on all bank holidays including New Years Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday with the only exception being Christmas Day.

Single yellow lines continue to apply on bank holidays, just as they may on any other day of the week, even including Sundays. The specific days and times of the restriction will be outlined on the signage adjacent to the restriction.

Single yellow lines situated within a controlled parking zone are restricted during the same days and hours as the zone, which is specified on the signage found at the zone entry points, unless the restriction times differ. However, double yellow lines remain enforceable at all times and on all days of the year across the entirety of Watford.

A penalty charge notice is set at £70/£50 depending on the severity of the contravention, which is reduced to £35/£25 if paid within 14 days.

To pay a penalty charge notice phone 0845 452 4530 24 hours / 7 days a week or Pay For It online and click on the link 'Penalty Charge Notice'.

If you lose or mislay the penalty charge noitce please call 01908 223507 between 8am to 6:30pm Monday to Saturday and quote your vehicle registration number.
