Recycling - residential collections
Watford Borough Council offers a full kerbside recycling service to all residents across the town, collecting glass bottles and jars, mixed cans and plastic, paper and green waste.
We will:
- Provide each household with a set of 3 recycling boxes for mixed cans and plastics, glass bottles and jars and paper.
- Collect your recycling every other week (with the exception of Christmas, New Year and Bank Holidays)
- Advertise well in advance any changes to the collection service
- Provide additional recycling boxes if requested. (Recycling boxes remain free, but if residents would like them delivered, it will cost £5. Alternatively additional/replacement boxes can be collected from Wiggenhall Depot, Wiggenhall Road, WD18 0FB on Thursdays between 2pm and 4pm. Please note that this is not the old Herts County Council Household Waste and Recycling Centre, it is the Watford Borough Council depot. Residents must bring proof of address (utility bill) with them)
- Replace your boxes back on the boundary of your property
- Ensure your street is left clean and tidy following the waste collection (no spillages)
- Provide assisted collections for the elderly and infirm upon application
- On the rare occasion we miss your collection, we will collect your bin within 48 hours of reporting
You can help us by:
- Putting the recycling boxes on the front boundary of your property (by 6am on the morning of collection)
- Separating your waste correctly ensuring no contamination (please refer to listings below)
- Removing tops & lids from glass jars and putting them in with your domestic waste
- Washing and squashing cans and plastic bottles
- Reporting any missed collections on tel: 01923 235946 or through the link below within 48 hours
We will not:
- Collect any contaminated recycling boxes.
Collections are on a fortnightly basis alternating with the collection of your green waste. For information on collection dates please refer to your calendar or contact the Customer Service Centre on tel: 01923 235946.
