Your council offers a number of services to help ensure private homes are safe and well maintained.

The Care and Repair service provides support and advice for older, vulnerable people or people with disabilities living in their own homes. This includes advice on adapting your home to changing needs, major repairs and where to get financial help.

Private Sector Housing Renewal Policy

The council has a Private Sector Housing Renewal Policy details our priorities for Watford in terms of private housing, which are:

1. Improve ‘non-decent’ houses occupied by ‘vulnerable households’
2. Energy efficiency improvements for vulnerable households
3. Enforcement in the private rented sector
4. Target specific areas in the town
5. Long term empty properties
6. Provision of Disabled Facilities Grants
