Housing benefit - new claim
Housing benefit is for people on a low income to help them pay their rent. You may be able to get housing benefit if you are on other benefits, work part-time or work full-time on a low income.
If you claim jobseeker's allowance, you will get forms to claim housing benefit and council tax benefit with the jobseeker's allowance claim pack.
If you are claiming contribution-based jobseeker's allowance, you can download a 'Benefits claim form' from the 'Related pages' section of this page and return the completed forms to us.
If you get income-based jobseeker's allowance, you may get up to the maximum amount of housing benefit allowable. If you do not get income-based jobseeker's allowance, the amount of housing benefit you can get depends on the amount of eligible rent you pay, how many people live with you, your personal circumstances, how much money you have coming in and how much you have in savings.
