Hertfordshire County Council’s Health and Community Services closely with health services, district councils, voluntary organisations and other agencies. They use their resources to arrange, develop and provide care and support in the community for older people and adults, people who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, who are deaf, hard of hearing or are visually impaired. The Red Cross medical equipment service provides wheelchair hire and short-term loans of equipment in almost 1000 outlets in the UK, helping tens of thousands of people every year. The service helps people return to their own homes after illness or surgery, enables them to go on holiday with friends or family, and promotes independence.
