Food
The Food Safety Act aims to make sure all food offered to the public is safe to eat and is properly described.
The information in this section of the website explains the role of our environmental health officers in helping food outlets to produce safe food and to meet their other responsibilities.
Our officers are responsible for enforcing food safety law, inspecting food premises, providing food hygiene training and investigating food complaints. This includes food poisoning outbreaks and giving advice to people seeking to set up a new food business.
Watford Borough Council also operates a Scores on the Doors food hygiene rating system, where you can find out how we rate the restaurants and cafes in the town.
