Household waste - disposal sitesThere are two Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in Watford, run by Herts County Council. They accept a wide range of materials for recycling; are for household waste only and are open every day except Christmas day, Boxing day and New Year's day. Watford Household Waste Recycling Centre, Wiggenhall Road From city centre ring road exit left onto Vicarage Rd then left again into Wiggenhall Rd. HWRC is on the left just after the river bridge. Open Monday to Friday, 8am until 4pm; Saturday and Sunday, 9am until 4pm. Please note that if the site is closed during its advertised opening hours, it is most likely to be due to the servicing of a full container, which should take no longer than 20 minutes. You can recycle the following items at this centre:
Waterdale Household Waste Recycling Centre, St. Albans Road, nr. Garston From the M1 Junction 6, take the A405 (St Albans Road) southbound. Keep to the left of the A405, and take the first exit after the M1 bridge (the HWRC is signposted). Open daily 8am until 6pm. Please note that if the site is closed during its advertised opening hours, it is most likely to be due to the servicing of a full container, which should take no longer than 20 minutes.
