Pre-application advice

Before making an application, you can discuss your proposal with us to find out whether the principles of your proposal are acceptable or not in planning terms.  These enquiries are known as pre-application enquiries.

Environment Agency - Pre Application Advice

The Environment Agency provides pre-planning application advice and would like to hear from you if your proposed development site is a hectare or more, in flood zones 2 or 3, close to a watercourse, on potentially contaminated land, handling waste or hazardous substances.  Click here for more information. 

We are committed to providing a pre-application advice service.  However, please note that this is not a statutory part of the service and a charge will apply for major applications.

There is no charge for pre-application advice and discussions in connection with minor applications or householder applications (e.g. small house extensions or alterations, small scale business development, listed building consent applications, advertisements, trees or certificates of lawfulness)
