Gypsy and traveller sites
Hertfordshire has an estimated 360 gypsy and traveller families in the county each year. The population is currently accommodated by 34 sites, 11 of which are owned and managed by the county council's Gypsy Section.
Herts County Council's Gypsy Section which has existed for more than 40 years and its 13 staff manage and maintain accommodation for around 200 families on 10 permanent and one transit site. These services are funded solely from the rents collected from these sites.
