Disabled people - parking bays

To obtain a disabled parking bay, you must meet the following criteria:

disabled parking bays
  • be in receipt of the higher rate mobility component of the disability living allowance or attendance allowance if over 60
  • drive your own car or have a nominated carer who drives you and resides at your address
  • provide copies of your driving licence and vehicle registration documents, or your nominated carers, showing your name and address
  • hold a disabled drivers Blue Badge
  • have no access to private parking
  • If you do not receive a qualifying allowance because you are of retirement age, your mobility impairment will need to be assessed by the doctor appointed by the Council.

However, putting in parking places involves consultation with local people and statutory bodies. An application may take up to 3 months to process.
