Please read the following information before entering our online planning system (Public Access). You will find the link at the end of this page.

Public Access provides a live link to our back office database and keeps you up to date with the current position of an application. Our online service allows you to:

  • Search for planning applications by a variety of criteria such as address, date and type
  • view details of planning applications such as key dates
  • track the status of a planning application
  • submit comments on planning applications
  • view properties and applications on a map
  • view documents related to applications via the UKPlanning service

Available information

  • 1994-2002 historic application details, including the decision and decision date
  • 2003- current and historic application details, including a link to view application form,  drawings and the decision

Limitations of the system and its use

Public Access has the following current limitations:

  • to ensure that the information we display is current, it is necessary to perform regular updates, the system therefore is not available online between 12.30am and 5.30am daily
  • when this service is offline you may still search, view, and comment on planning application documents via the UKPlanning service (available 24 hours a day)
  • The online planning records contained within the site must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal Land Charges Search. No responsibility will be taken for any errors or omissions in the planning history information obtained from this site
  • Similarly the information contained within this site does not constitute in any way a formal notification of a planning decision, and as such any actions taken as a result of information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewers own risk
  • Under normal circumstances the plans and documents associated with new planning applications will be able to be viewed within 5 working days of receipt of a valid application. If documents are not available you may wish to try a few days later or alternatively you will be able to view the application and associated documents at the Customer Service Centre at the Town Hall between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday
  • Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985 your comments will be made available for public inspection at the council's Customer Service Centre at the Town Hall as well as being available to view online

Plans, drawing and material submitted to the Council are protected by the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 (Sections 47). You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes; to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans. Further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner.

Please Note: The Public Access system is only fully functional with Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.
