Responding to emergencies is usually the task of a number of agencies, including local authorities, and will in most instances be led by the police or one of the other emergency services.

Out of hours contact for Council
The Customer Service Centre is open from 8.30am until 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Any out of hours emergency only calls should be directed to the same main switchboard number: 01923 226400. Please note, only genuine emergencies will be dealt with out of hours.
Gas
If you smell gas, please call the gas emergency number on tel: 0800 111 999.
Electricity
If your power supply is interrupted please contact local suppliers EDF Energy on tel: 0800 783 8838. Similarly, if you see any of the following:
- Damaged equipment or lines
- Overhead lines that are on the ground or low enough for people or vehicles to come into contact with them
- Sparking overhead wires that are twisted or pushed together by broken tree branches
- Broken substation fences or damaged electricity manhole covers in the road or pavement which leave live equipment exposed
- Electricity meters and associated equipment that are not secure or waterproof
