Commercial waste - information and adviceThe Environmental Protection Act 1990 defines commercial/trade waste as waste from premises used for a trade or business or for the purposes of sport, recreation or entertainment. Under the Environment Protection Act 1990 section 34 producers of commercial waste have a duty to ensure that their waste is disposed of legally. How should commercial/trade waste be stored and disposed of?
Failure to observe the points above will result in a criminal offence being committed for which you may be prosecuted. Practical examples that can help you comply with this legislation include :
Where can I take my commercial/trade waste? There are currently no council run sites for the disposal of commercial waste and it cannot be taken to any civic amenity sites. Commercial premises need to make their own arrangements for the collection and removal of waste. How can I arrange for collection of my commercial/trade waste? Watford Borough Council does operate a service for trade waste collection at a charge. For more information see 'related items' panel. There are also a range of private companies who offer waste disposal services, for details please refer to the Yellow Pages. |
