Environment Services – a ‘good’ service with promising prospects for improvement

In August 2006, our Environment Services was awarded a 'good' rating with promising prospects for the future, by the Audit Commission. The Audit Commission inspection team gave the service, which deals with refuse collection, street cleaning and recycling, a 'good' two star rating, on a scale ranging from zero to three stars. They also gave us an endorsement for our plans to improve the service with the 'promising prospects for improvement' rating. The performance of all our services are measured by Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs) before April 2008 and by National Indicators after April 2008. This information can be found under the Council - performance indicators section of the website.
