A personal search can be carried out by anyone. 

The Local Land Charges Register is available to persons wishing to carry out a personal search by visiting the Town Hall by appointment, between 9am - 12 noon Monday to Friday.  It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the personal search to identify the land/property and to make notes of any information held on the Register.  No information will be given in writing.  To make an appointment please contact:

Local Land Charges Register

Arrangements from 17 August 2010

It will be possible to inspect the local land charges register free under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)

Please note that the environmental information regulations give you the right to inspect the base records only and do not entitle you to have the information verified or checked.

It should be noted that the base information you are viewing may not be comprehensive and may contain errors.

An appointment will be necessary to inspect these records under EIR, the information will be made available in our main reception area.

If you wish to inspect base records in respect of CON29r enquiries under EIR, you will need to contact the individual council department involved – building control, planning, environmental health, leisure or Hertfordshire county council in respect of highways. An appointment may be necessary and it cannot be guaranteed that the same appointment time will be possible for all departments.

If you would prefer that the authority compiles and checks the information in the local land charges register  we can provide a property report, a charge will be made for this service. This charge will be £13, but is open to review. We can provide this information electronically on request.
