Council departments
Since May 2002 the council has been led by a directly elected Liberal Democract Mayor, Dorothy Thornhill, now in her second term of office following the town's second mayoral election in May 2006.
How we are structured
The council is managed by the Corporate Management Board, mande up of the Managing Director, two Corporate Directors, the Director of Finance and the council's Monitoring Officer (the Head of Legal & Democratic Services).
They are supported by a management team made up of a further nine heads of service:
- Housing
- Environmental Services
- Revenues and Benefits
- Finance
- Human Resources
- Information and Communication Technology
- Leisure and Community Services
- Planning and Development
- Strategic Services
We currently employ around 600 full time equivalent staff.
