Public health - cooling tower notification
All premises where cooling towers and evaporative condensers are situated must register with Environmental Services under The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992.
Typically these will be premises with "wet" air conditioning systems. They are not necessarily the large cooling towers associated with power stations and major industry.
The purpose of notification is to identify premises that could potentially be associated with Legionnaires’ Disease. This enables contact to be made with these businesses regarding compliance with relevant Health & Safety requirements. It would also assist the investigation of any cases of Legionnaires’ Disease that may occur.
A notification form can be downloaded from the panel below.
