Homelessness - advice and support

If you are homeless or about to become homeless, it is important to get help and advice as early as possible. We can help in a number of ways, for example:

homelessness advice

• Is your landlord threatening to evict you?
We will give you advice on your tenancy rights, find out why you are being evicted, talk to the landlord to see if he or she will change their mind, and so on. We will also direct you to other suitable accommodation where this is the best option.

• Are you having trouble paying your mortgage?
We will provide you with basic money advice, or refer you to a money advisor for more detailed financial advice. If necessary, we can tell you about the Government’s mortgage rescue scheme

• Are you being evicted by parents or other family or friends?
If you are 16-17 we will advise you who you should see for an assessment of your needs and help to make sure that you will not become homeless. If you are older we will assist you to secure suitable accommodation.

• Are you a victim of domestic violence?
We will work in partnership with other services to make sure that either you can remain safely in your own home or we will try to find a place of safety for you. We will also advise you of possible legal measures that could be taken to prevent further acts of violence being committed.

These are just some of the ways we may be able to help you. You are always welcome to come and see someone in our Homelessness Prevention and Advice Team to talk over your situation.
