Council tax

Watford Borough Council is the ‘billing authority.’ This means we collect council tax for Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Police Authority as well as for ourselves.

Council Tax

The council also collects National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR) from Watford businesses, which last year was around £66 million. The council retains some of the NNDR income raised, although most goes to a central government pool which is then distributed to councils across the country.

For 2014/15 out of every pound you pay in council tax - just 16p goes to Watford Borough Council, 10p goes to Hertfordshire Police & Crime Commissioner and 74p goes to Hertfordshire County Council.

You can download the 2014/2015 council tax booklet at the bottom of this page.
