Fireworks and entertainment to light up Watford
Release Date: 4 November 2011
A FREE display of fireworks and entertainment will bring sparkle to Guy Fawkes Night on Saturday 5 November in Cassiobury Park.
The annual event, which is organised and funded by Watford Borough Council, in partnership with the Watford Lions, promises to be a great evening with two fireworks displays, bonfire, entertainment and food and drink available for all the family.
Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said, “The event is marvellous for community spirit and normally attracts excellent crowd numbers. I’m delighted that we can still provide an evening of free entertainment and fun for thousands of local families during these economically challenging times. The evening also allows us to support local charities.”
Food and drink will be available from 6pm, with the children’s display starting at 6.15pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the main fireworks display will commence at 7.30pm. There will be entertainment between the fireworks and Vibe FM will be MC-ing on stage. Three local bands, The Informers, Co-Jones and The Electric Modern will be playing live.
This display is widely regarded as one of the best in Hertfordshire, so don’t miss out!
Last year it is estimated that over 30,000 people attended the firework display.
Please note – there will be no parking in or around the park, except for limited disabled blue badge holders, who can park in Gade Avenue car park. Anyone coming by car is advised to park in the town centre car parks and walk to the event. Members of the public are not permitted to bring alcohol, fireworks or sparklers into the park.
Donations go towards keeping this a free event and supporting local charities.
There are parking restrictions in place from 7am to 11pm on 5 November on the south side of Cassiobury Park. More information including details of parking restrictions here. Or telephone: 01923 278333 during office hours or email: community@watford.gov.uk
