Croxley Rail Link - public consultation
Release Date: 17 May 2011
The Croxley Rail Link is a proposed diversion of the Watford branch of the Metropolitan line to Watford Junction via the former Croxley Green branch line and Watford High Street.
Two new stations are to be constructed – at Ascot Road and Watford General Hospital, with a planned closure for Watford Met station.
The project is one of 23 major infrastructure schemes being considered for funding by the Department for Transport (DfT). A final decision is expected later this year, with an expected opening date of 2016.
The Croxley Rail Link project will make travelling in the area quicker and more convenient; providing easier access to Watford Hospital, Watford Football Club’s Vicarage Road Stadium and the local business parks for jobs, business and leisure activities. Benefits for residents also include:
- An enhanced link with the Central London network
- More households within walking distance of a station on the extended Metropolitan line
- Alternative to private car use, reducing the adverse effect of road congestion
A public consultation is being held until 5pm on 18 August 2011. The project partners want to hear your opinions and find out what is important to you before proposed designs are finalised.
