Local benefit cheat found guilty

Mr Mukhlis Jalkhi of Boundary Way, Watford, was yesterday (15 November 2010) sentenced at Watford Magistrates Court to a conditional discharge for six months, and ordered to pay £60 towards prosecution costs.
Watford Borough Council brought the successful prosecution after Mr Jalkhi failed to declare that he had a bank account with capital exceeding £16,000.
Failure to declare this information, resulted in Mr Jalkhi receiving housing and council tax benefits in excess of £2,000 to which he was not entitled to.
Mr Jalkhi was charged in Court with a view to obtaining Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit, under social security legislation.
