Woodside Stadium is one of the country's leading athletic stadiums and plays host to numerous high profile and prestigious events. As well as providing a venue for top athletics this stadium also caters for the enthusiast and club athlete.

Woodside Stadium is one of the country's top athletics stadia, with an eight lane synthetic track, two 100m straights and full athletic markings. The centre of the track is grassed and is suitable for football, hockey, Gaelic sports and tug-of-war.

The stadium is set in an amphitheatre surrounded by poplar trees. This attractive venue is within easy reach of the M1 and M25 motorways, making it one of the most accessible facilities in the region.

Watford Harriers Athletics Club

Youngsters can continue their training by joining the Junior Section of the Watford Harriers Athletics Club which provides facilities for all ages and abilities with qualified athletics coaches.

The venue has a Clubhouse with lounge and bar facilities, meeting rooms and showers and these can be hired out for private functions.

Facilities to suit everyone

You do not have to be a top athlete to use Woodside Stadium, it is here for everyone whatever your age or ability. You don't have to take part in any physical activity, just come along, bring a picnic and watch one of our many athletics events in lovely surroundings.

We believe that everyone should be offered the opportunity to take part in sporting activities, and we work to encourage participation from all sections of the community.

Groups, times and days vary, depending upon the time of year and demand. Check with the Leisure Centre to find out about the current programme. And if you have any ideas for other fun sessions, please let us know!

Travel Information

Woodside Stadium is well served by road, rail and bus links. Close by for car travellers is the M1 and M25 and there are three British Rail stations in Watford itself, Garston, being the closest to the centre. Bus users, during the day, should look out for the 344, W4,348 and, during the evenings the 306/309.
