There are two play areas in the park; one adjacent to the tea pavilion, and one adjacent to the paddling pools.  Both play areas have been upgraded recently, with the play area adjacent to the paddling pools designed as a model play area, with inclusive play equipment.

A miniature railway operates all year round, which is very popular with the kids, and in the summer months there is a bouncy castle.  The fare for a trip on the railway is £1 per person.  It operates from about 12 noon - 4.30pm most Saturdays and Sundays; most school holidays; bank holidays and daily from the beginning of June to the middle of September. The miniature railway can be booked for school parties, interest groups etc via prior arrangements.  For more information contact the operater Jeff Price by email: wmr@mrsc.org.uk.

The paddling pool complex itself, for children under the age of 14, is possibly the most popular attraction for miles around on a hot summer’s day!  It comprises three shallow pools in a fenced-off area, with toilets and refreshments attached, and is open from Easter until mid September, between 10am and 7pm.  The complex is run by a contractor on behalf of the Council, and is manned at all times, with staff trained in first aid.
