Can I get some advice about the smoking ban?
From 1 July 2007, virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in England became smoke free. This means that it is against the law to smoke in the indoors parts of places such as pubs, bars, nightclubs, cafes, restaurants, lunch rooms, membership clubs and shopping centres. Public transport and work vehicles used by more than one person are also now smokefree.
You can call the smokefree compliance line on tel: 0800 587 1667 to report possible breaches of the law. Calls will be answered by a call centre operator, who will then forward the information to the council.
Further information may also be obtained from the Smoke Free England website which provides resources and advice or by telephone to the national smoke free helpline on tel: 0800 169 1697.
